Condor Ferries incumbent agency was going through a change and how they supported Condor would dramatically change.

 

This meant that Condor had to find an agency that had a deep understanding of .NET and Umbraco to ensure the services they offered their customers was not impacted.

The client

Condor Ferries operates a year-round ferry service connecting the UK, Guernsey and Jersey and the port of St Malo in France. Each year they carry over 1 million passengers, 200,000 passenger vehicles and 100,000 freight vehicles on their services.

Condor Ferries are an international business requiring multi-language websites as well managing a large part of their bookings via their website.

we were asked by Condor Ferries to take over the management of their existing website following a restructure of their incumbent agency meant that they felt that they where no longer the right .NET/Umbraco partner for the business.

 

Due to the speed at which the changes came in to play the handover period wasn't as long as is usually given when changing partners, this meant that we had to pick up our understanding of the finer detail of the functionality and logic of the site's backend in an unconventional manner.

 

Additionally, during the transition period, we also had to develop new templates for their new look website which provided an extra layer of complication.

The solution

to ensure that we could action any new requests and fault fixes on the site our priority was to understand the logic and detail of the build, fortunately, as we specialise in .NET and Umbraco this task was more straightforward due to the depth and strength of knowledge and experience of our team.

 

Once we had a strong understanding of the site we were able to successfully support the business in the day to day running of the site, and from there we were engaged to build the businesses new templates as part of their ongoing commitment to providing their customers with the experience they expect from the online presence.
