The Client

Condor Ferries operated a year-round ferry service connecting the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and the port of St Malo in France. Every year they carry over 1 million passengers, 200,000 passenger vehicles and 100,000 freight vehicles via their service. Condor is an international business, requiring multiple sites including their freight service, multi-language website as well as maintaining to manage a large part of their bookings via their main website.

The Challenge

We have worked with Condor Ferries on numerous occasions in the past. Starting from taking over the initial management of their existing main website. Condor asked us to restructure initially which then stemmed to the creation and builds of future mini projects. 

 

The speed these initial changes came into play meant that the handover period from their current agency was cut a little short, this meant we had to pick up our understanding of the finer details to develop and create entirely new templates for the new look website that provided an extra layer of complication to the primary project. 

The Solution

For the initial project, we had to ensure that we were able to action new requests and fix ant initial faults, our priority was to understand the logic and detail behind the build. Fortunately, due to us specialising in .NET and Umbraco, this task was more straightforward thanks to the depth and strength of knowledge and experience of our team. 

 

We created and built entirely new templates to aid in the support of the businesses day to day running of the new site allowing the customer's experience to be just as expected from any online presence. 

 

Work with Condor didn't just stop after the website redesign, we have on numerous side projects for the company which include a reservation booking system, re-channeling the content on their app to math the new website accordingly, a voucher application form to aid in customers who had previously booked ferry tickets prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and needed their trips cancelling; or booking for another time as constant user experience work all going on in the background, using the likes of A/B split testing, ongoing website performance and SEO optimisation.
